AlbaLingo is a dedicated Albanian language learning platform built for English speakers who want to learn Albanian from the ground up. Start with the 36-letter Albanian alphabet, progress through structured A1 and A2 courses covering greetings, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and real conversation practice.
At the end of each chapter, you take a chapter exam that tests everything you learned in that chapter. The chapter exam covers all lessons within the chapter — vocabulary, grammar, and conversation. You must pass the chapter exam to unlock the next chapter.
At the end of the course, you take a final exam that covers all the material from the entire course. The final exam tests your overall Albanian proficiency across all chapters and lessons.
After passing the final exam, you receive a certificate of completion that you can download and share. Each certificate has a unique verification code that can be verified online, so employers and institutions can confirm your Albanian language proficiency.
A1 — Beginner: The complete beginner course starts with the Albanian alphabet (36 letters including 9 digraphs), basic greetings like "Pereshendetje" (Hello) and "Faleminderit" (Thank you), numbers, family vocabulary, food and drink, telling time, days and months, colors, seasons, possessive pronouns, and an introduction to past tense. Each lesson includes vocabulary with pronunciation, grammar explanations, interactive exercises, and conversation practice. At the end of each chapter there is a chapter exam, and at the end of the course there is a final exam followed by a certificate of completion.
A2 — Elementary: Build on your A1 foundation with more complex grammar, expanded vocabulary, longer conversations, and reading comprehension exercises. Practice real-world scenarios like ordering at a restaurant, asking for directions, and talking about your daily routine. Includes chapter exams after each chapter and a final exam with a certificate of completion.
B1 — Intermediate (coming soon): More advanced grammar, idiomatic expressions, and extended conversation practice.
B2 — Upper Intermediate (coming soon): Complex texts, nuanced grammar, and near-fluent conversation skills.
The Albanian alphabet (alfabeti shqip) has 36 letters: 7 vowels (a, e, e-with-umlaut, i, o, u, y) and 29 consonants. It uses Latin script with 9 digraphs — dh, gj, lj, nj, rr, sh, th, xh, zh — that are treated as individual letters. Each letter has one consistent sound, making Albanian pronunciation highly predictable once you learn the rules.
